United in Crisis – Kansas City (UIC-KC) is a newly formed church network with a vision for hundreds of Greater Kansas City Churches and thousands of trained Christian volunteers ready to meet the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of those impacted by the crisis, great or small.
With disasters on the rise and crises growing in our world, it’s no longer if a crisis will happen but when and will the Church and our community be ready? UIC-KC wants to uniquely empower the Church to be organized, prepared, and ready to mobilize quickly when crisis strikes so trained church members will be equipped to walk alongside survivors, helping them get back on their feet into safe and clean homes.
UIC-KC also welcomes business partners, nonprofits, and community support to play a vital role in the organization’s mission and to help ensure every surviving individual and family has their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs met.
To be an active, empowered, life-sustaining church network, bringing hope into crisis through the transforming power of Jesus Christ to every life we serve.
Revelation 19:7
To glorify Christ by equipping, empowering, and mobilizing the Church of Greater Kansas City to walk with those affected by crisis and meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Luke 10:25-37, Ephesians 4:12-16
Through past disasters and crises like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Harvey and others like it, we have quickly determined that local and state government, local agencies, churches and ministries alone are not big enough to embrace and handle the magnitude of destruction that crisis brings. Specifically, government and local agencies are not equipped to minister to the overwhelming emotional and spiritual needs of individuals affected by a disaster or crisis.
Today, there is a growing sense of urgency amongst Christian leaders that at any given time anything could happen and churches must be ready! With the threat of future hurricanes, tornadoes, escalating threats of terrorism, bio-chemical warfare, and pandemic catastrophes, the body of Christ in Greater Kansas City, like Joseph in the Bible, needs to be equipped to respond to the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of survivors. In preparation for these events, UIC-KC is training and equipping the body of Christ and churches to be ready for smaller to catastrophic crises within our community or beyond.
